Caroline Telford asked:

The high speed Internet scene in the United Kingdom is currently on the fast track. Fortunately for the subscribers, they have a wide array of choices when it comes to the companies offering high-speed broadband Internet connection.

As compared to dial-up access via modem, high speed Internet offers a much faster download speed and a better browsing experience.

It is projected that by the end of the year, more than two million subscribers would have switched to high-speed broadband Internet connection.

ADSL Connections in the UK

ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line is one of the most common forms of DSL used. With ADSL, here are the advantages that subscribers can enjoy:

1. Your existing Internet connection can go though your existing telephone line.

2. You can use your existing telephone line, both for connecting to the Internet and making telephone calls.

3. Unlike analogue modems, you can have an active connection without charging the device.

4. With ADSL, you can have a data transfer speed which is 15 to 20 times higher than the connection speed which is utilized in an analogue modem.

5. Another advantage of ADSL connection is that you can browse through different web pages without telephone impulses charging.

6. If you are planning to switch to ADSL and you had dial-up connection previously – your telephone bill will be significantly lowered.

7. You will have 24/7 access to the Internet if you decide to use high-speed broadband or ADSL.

8. There is a better overall browsing experience with ADSL.

9. The installation procedure is simpler.

10. Changing to an ADSL provider gives you more benefits overall.

Are You on the Lookout for a High Speed Broadband Internet Provider?

Since broadband Internet in the UK is on the rise, now is as good a time as any to consider upgrading your current Internet connection.

If you are still using a dial-up connection, get in touch with the different companies offering high-speed broadband Internet service.

Here are the things that you need to take into consideration:

- How much is the monthly subscription?

- Aside from the monthly fee, are there hidden costs and charges that I should be aware of?

- What is the limit when it comes to downloading data?

- What special discounts are offered by the company?

- What is the connection speed offered by the high-speed broadband Internet connection provider?

- How much can you use your broadband connection?

- Will you be able to bundle up your high-speed broadband connection with your ADSL2 and cable connection? If you can, how much of a discount will be provided for you?

By making a comparison of these factors, you can easily determine which high speed broadband service provider offers the best value for your money.

Take the time in making sure that you will have everything that you need from a high-speed broadband service provider – all your efforts will be worth it once you already have high-speed Internet access, 24/7.

What is Dialup?

Dialup is the slow and annoying connection speed some of us had to experience, and some of us still do. Dialup is when a modem is used to connect to the wall socket via a cable using a 66-45 cable to connect to the internet. You require an internal modem for this connection or an external modem, most PC’s still come with internal modems and some business’s still use dialup connections for when users go home and use VPN to connect to the company’s servers.

What is Fibre Optic?

This has also been known as the speed of light, up to the gigabytes. This Fibre Optic cable has a bundle of glass threads, which have the ability of sending messages modulated onto light wave. Fibre Optic cables have a much greater bandwidth than metal cables. They have less interference, are much thinner and lighter than metal wires. The data is transmitted digitally not analogically. Fibre optic is very expensive to install as well as being fragile.

What is ISDN?

Meaning Integrated Services Digital Network, a standard to send video, voice and data over a digital telephone line. IDSN connection speeds are from 64Kbps. There are two types of ISDN, these are : ‘basic rate interface’ and ‘primary rate interface’. Basic Rate: Has two B channels consisting of 6Kbps and one D channel for transmitting. Primary Rate: Has 23 B channels and a single D channel.

What is ADSL?

Meaning Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, this is the most common type of Internet world wide in today’s society. This allows more data to be sent across existing copper telephone lines. ADSL requires a specific modem and now has the capability of wireless as well as Ethernet. ADSL connections are from 1.5Mbps to 9 Mbps when receiving data. When sending data it can connection up to 16Kpbs to 640kbs

Join us at http://deansitsupport.com

Be in touch soon friend.

Wishing you great success

Dean Barnard

By: Dean Barnard

About the Author:

Matt Sharp asked:

Internet is becoming indispensable for our lives day by day. Today people are more comfortable doing things online–from buying to selling, reading books to booking airline tickets and playing games to listening music. So, nowadays an internet connection is almost inevitable in every household.

Among various types of Internet services the Broadband or the high-speed internet access is one of the most widely preferred internet connections. For the first time users, it really makes sense to go for Broadband right from the beginning, because the entry-level broadband service packages are cheap and better than the dial-up alternative. But, with so many service providers offering broadband services it is quite confusing to select the best broadband service deal that suit the needs as well as economic standings of everyone. For finding the best package it is better to go for a Broadband price comparison site as there is no shortage of Broadband price comparison sites in the Internet. In these broadband price comparison sites people can find out the best and cheap deals, compare prices and select the best broadband provider to meet his needs. While selecting a broadband connection one should also look in to the availability of the connection in that area, the benefits associated with it, speed factor and whether he needs a asymmetric digital subscriber line, standalone broadband or TV, phone and even mobile broadband connection. Various broadband providers in the UK, like Sky, Virgin Media, BT Total Broadband, TalkTalk, Pipex, Tiscali, Orange, Easyspace, AOL, PlusNet, Be, Toucan, Eclipse, Fasthosts, and Demon provide a wide range of packages featuring cashback options free gifts and download etc., along with its broadband packages.

With enough options available in the market it is really confusing to select the best broadband that suits the need of the people. Some broadband providers in UK also offer bt total broadband services for free with various upgrading choices in future. It is not easy to go to various providers to analyse the quotes of different types of broadband connections offered by different broadband service providers. So, instead of making hazy decisions one should compare the prices through a broadband price comparison portal which offers detailed information about broadband services. A number of broadband price comparison sites also help customers in signing new broadband connections, give independent and expert advice to anyone who wants to upgrade their connection and perform live availability check for the postcode area.

So it is always easy and convenient to compare the broadband services in the broadband price comparison websites and find out a cost effective bt total broadband service in a less time.

bt total broadband, bt total broadband
