Wilson Snyder asked:

The leading Satellite TV provider, DIRECTV, offers two different kinds of high-speed internet to bundle with its Satellite TV service. The first high-speed internet service that DIRECTV offer is the high-speed DSL internet service. DIRECTV partners with well-known Telco companies such as Verizon, Quest and others to offer Satellite TV and high-speed DSL internet bundle in selected areas. Recently, AT&T has joined the force with DIRECTV to offer Satellite TV, DSL and home phone bundling services in AT& T territories, which covers more than half of the United States. If you live in such areas, good for you.

High-speed DSL internet provides download speed up to 20 Mbps and costs much less than average cable bills. With high-speed internet, you can download files in a matter of seconds. You are able to get wireless modem/router options just as what you get via cable moderm, except that you pay an average of $20 less per month with DSL. For limited time, DIRECTV is now offering $120 rewards for its DSL high-speed internet service. Eligible customers can save $10/month for up to 1 year with mail-in rebate submission.

In some locations, DIRECTV may not be able to partner with a local company to offer DSL service. In this case, DIRECTV does offer another solution that is called high-speed satellite Internet service thanks to its partnership with WildBlue. This WildBlue internet service is available virtually anywhere in the US. With a download speed up to 1.5 Mbps, it boasts speeds that are 30 times faster than dial up, making it much easier to download music, video and pictures. The cost has been one of the biggest drawbacks of DIRECTV high-speed internet service in the past, but it is getting much cheaper now. You can choose a service plan starting from as low as $49.95 per month. And you don’t even need a phone line – that’s great for someone who just need cell phone instead of paying extra for home phone. Something different from DSL internet access: you do need another satellite dish installed in order to receive WildBlue Satellite high-speed internet.

For more information about DIRECTV high speed internet, I recommend you checking out DIRECTV GUIDE. It is a specialized Satellite TV info website that provides you with all the useful information about Satellite TV and Satellite TV provider. By reading that website, you can save hours of searching for the best Satellite TV deals, comparing Satellite TV to cable, or researching for differences between major Satellite TV providers. Be sure to try that webiste.

Kimberly Green asked:

Today’s internet users are demanding fast and reliable connections. For people and businesses who use a lot of bandwidth, a high speed satellite internet connection may definitely be a solution. Also, this type of internet connection is perfect as a solution for those who live in remote or rural areas, or those who are seafaring, where a standard DSL or cable internet connection is simply not plausible, feasible or even possible.

In order to qualify for a high speed satellite internet connection, you will need a PC or Mac-based computer that has an ethernet port or an ethernet adapter. Additionally, you will need to be situated in an area where you have an unobstructed view of the southern sky. This is where the satellite will point towards, in order to complete the internet connection between you and the dish that broadcasts it.

So, how does high speed satellite internet work? Well, a small satellite dish is mounted on the exterior of your house, or your place of business. High speed data is then transferred to that dish and through the broadband modem that your computer or home network is connected to.

You should be aware of the fact that there are two types of high speed satellite internet — one-way and two-way. In the case of a one-way connection, the satellite that is hooked up to your modem can receive downstream/downloaded data, but it cannot send upstream/uploaded data. This means that you will still need to have a dial-up or other type of internet connection in order to send requests over the internet, or to be able to upload files.

Or, you can simply use two-way high speed satellite internet. In this case, the special dish and modem that you have will be able to easily and reliably handle and process both uploads and downloads, so you will not need an alternative connection. Needless to say, if your provider offers it, then two-way high speed satellite internet is the way to go.

High speed satellite internet has become more affordable than ever. It used to be that a simple cable or broadband connection would cost several hundred dollars a month. Now we can all attest to the fact that a standard cable connection costs less than fifty dollars per month. Likewise, the cost of having satellite internet in your home has definitely decreased over the years. Of course, high speed satellite internet is still more expensive than your typical internet connection, but this is because of the hardware, software and technology involved. Overall, it is still a very affordable solution.
